YOU’VE TRIED IT ALL.
Treats.
Online training videos.
Saying "no" louder.
But, your dog still isn't listening.
Because the problem isn't obedience — it's communication. And no amount of treats fixes a broken conversation.
CONSIDER THIS:
Mixed signals. Inconsistent rules.
Corrections that don't match what they're being asked to do.
You don’t need a stricter hand, you need a clearer one.
Your dog isn't being stubborn. They're confused.
Good Dog K9 transforms the relationship between dogs and their owners through clear, communication-based methods rooted in 18 years of hands-on experience so that families can stop managing their dogs and start enjoying them.
Every stage. Every breed. Every starting point.
01
Puppies
(post-shots through 6 months)
Potty training, crate training, foundational obedience, socialization, bite inhibition. The window between 8 weeks and 6 months is the most important training window your dog will ever have. Don't waste it.
02
Adolescent dogs
(6 months – 2 years)
The teenage phase. Pulling, jumping, selective hearing, testing limits. We rebuild structure and finish the foundation that often gets skipped during puppyhood.
03
Adult dogs
(2 years +)
Obedience, basic commands, leash manners, recall, household behavior. It's never too late. Adult dogs can absolutely learn — they just need a trainer who knows how to meet them where they are.
Our Approach
Why does our training work when others haven’t?
A The answer is simple — most dog training programs teach you commands. We teach you how your dog things, and then layer the commands on top of that foundation.
Training that goes with you.
A dog that "knows sit" in your kitchen but won't sit at the dog park hasn't actually learned the command — they've learned a kitchen trick. We train for the dog park, the front door, the vet's office, and every other place real life happens.Clear communication, not control.
We use positive reinforcement paired with clear structure — verbal cues, hand signals, and consistent expectations your dog can actually read. No shock. No fear. No gimmicks. Just a conversation your dog can finally understand. The earlier we start, the easier it gets.
Most owners wait until their dog has a problem to call a trainer. The owners who get the best results call us as soon as their puppy finishes their shots. Training a blank slate is faster, easier, and prevents 90% of the issues other owners spend years trying to fix.

We were so impressed with the progress Juan made with our Goldendoodle, Daisy. We were overwhelmed with 3 young children when we brought her home and her experience in Juan’s program has made our journey with her so much more enjoyable! Would highly recommend Good Dog K9 to anyone feeling stressed and overwhelmed in the puppy phase!

Testimonials:

“Juan trained our Sheepadoodle, Betty in 2021. We hear from everyone who knows her that she is “the best dog in the world”. When we got our daughter a puppy for Christmas in 2025, we counted down the days until her puppy shots were complete so that we could get her to Juan. After finishing her program, she is on the same trajectory as our older dog and we are absolutely in love with her.

We got a Jack Russell terrier for our son after years of him begging for one. We quickly realized we needed real training and support, so we sent her to Juan’s 4 week program. Between having full time jobs and 3 children, I truly don’t know how we would have done it without the structure of this training. We are so grateful for Good Dog K9 and would choose this method again and again!

FAQ

We offer two programs:
4 Week Comprehensive: Good Dog K9 Obedience Training — The full transformation. Best for dogs who need foundational obedience built from scratch, multiple behaviors addressed at once (including full potty training assistance), or more time to lock in new habits before going home. This is the program most owners choose when they want results that hold up under real-life pressure.
2 Week Intensive: Good Dog K9 Bootcamp — Best for dogs who need a focused reset on specific issues: leash pulling, basic obedience, potty training reinforcement, or one or two stubborn behaviors. Great for puppies with a solid temperament and adult dogs who just need the foundation tightened up. -
Good Dog K9 is a board-and-train program — your dog stays with Juan for the full length of the program you choose, getting hands-on training every single day. This is the most effective format for real, lasting behavior change because Juan controls the entire environment: every meal, every walk, every interaction becomes a training opportunity.
-
4-Week Comprehensive Program: $3,000
2-Week Intensive Bootcamp: $2,250
Boarding (program graduates only): $55/night
The program fee includes all training, all of your dog's care during their stay, daily structured training sessions, and the hand-off sessions at the end where Juan teaches you how to maintain everything your dog has learned. No hidden fees, no add-ons, no surprise invoices.

We can train, but your participation is critical to the result lasting long after you take your dog home. In our method, you will participate in a training check in at the midpoint in their training (4 week program only).
For all programs, you'll get hand-off session at the end so you know exactly how to maintain everything Juan built — because the goal is for you to be the one your dog listens to once they come home.
We cannot guarantee sustained results for owners who do not participate in the hand-off training. This is a requirement for all of our participants. -
This is the question that matters most, and it's the reason we built the program the way we did. The hand-off sessions at the end of every program exist specifically so that you know how to maintain the work Juan put in. Because here's the truth: a trained dog in an untrained household will regress in two weeks. We don't just train your dog — we train you to be the kind of owner your trained dog needs. That's what "Trained for Good." actually means.
-
Possibly — but it depends on the dog. Behavioral cases like aggression, reactivity, and severe anxiety are handled on a case-by-case basis. Some respond beautifully to the structure and consistency of a board-and-train environment; others need a different approach entirely. Juan will be honest with you during the free consultation about whether Good Dog K9 is the right fit for your specific dog. If we're not, we'll tell you — and where possible, point you toward someone who is.
